Recyling Arts and Crafts

Cutting up recycling items can be a beneficial activity for our toddlers, promoting fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving, while also introducing them to the concept of recycling. Engaging in activities like cutting and pasting with recycled materials can be both fun and educational, helping them learn about different materials and how they can be reused. We had so much fun!!

Upskilling Knowledge On First Aid And CPR.

This weekend our Small Friends Childcare Hilbert team came together with Hero HQ to continue our commitment to our children’s Health and Safety as we spent the day upskilling our current knowledge on First Aid and CPR. When we learn first aid, we not only learn how to handle injuries — we also learn how to stay cool in stressful situations. Children look to the adults in their life to model their behaviour after. If you are calm and collected, the child is much more likely to be as well.

Daycare Dental Checkup

Every six months, Small Friends Hilbert offers the children the opportunity to have dental examinations as part of its ongoing commitment to their health. Today, Ms. Paola from Daycare Dental came to our facility to check and clean the children’s teeth. Children who were curious about the instruments Ms. Paola was using made remarks like “I like vanilla flavour!” “I can count my teeth!” Yummy!” “I have blue and yellow toothbrush!” After their exams, children were given care packages as a gift. We are grateful to Daycare Dental for keeping our children’s teeth clean and healthy! Thanks Daycare Denatal

Constable Care Incursion

This morning Small Friends had a visit from Constable Care, he came with a Puppet show that showed the children how they could get help if there was an Emergency, a dangerous situation or if they had seen something that they thought the police should know about. Constable Care has been running puppet shows and education programs for more then 30 years and they’re main focus is to to prevent harm to children young people and the community by bringing knowledge and awareness to even the smallest of learners. Children have the right to feel safe, secure and supported and to have a sense of belonging to their community. We hope that this very special visit educated and inspired the children.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week, celebrated in Australia during the first week of July, is a time to acknowledge and celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our messy play trays were so fun and an engaging way to incorporate these themes into activities for children. Sensory play, especially with natural materials, can be a meaningful way to explore First Nations cultures.

CRITTERS UP CLOSE INCURSION

There’s nothing quite like the look of wonder when kids get up close with the amazing animals. Every encounter is a chance to spark curiosity, inspire learning, and create memories that last long after the day is done. Today we had Critters Up Close visit us, we love seeing young explorers connect with nature—one fascinating critter at a time. The children and staff had so much fun!!

OUR NEW PLAYGROUND

Doesn’t it look amazing…. Our new playground offers numerous benefits, enhancing children’s physical, social, and cognitive development while fostering a stimulating and safe environment. Specifically, it promotes physical activity, encourages social interaction, and stimulates creativity and imagination. We know the children will have endless fun on it!!!

Blow Paintings

Benefits of Blow Painting – Deep Breathing The process of blowing the paint across the paper is a great strategy for getting children to focus on their breath instead of their worries. Asking them to take slow, deep breaths as they blow the paint, can have a very calming effect.

Kids reacting to hatched eggs

Our hatched and hand reared chickens Penny, Lola and Snickers came for a visit today. The children couldn’t believe how big they were, they fed them corn and watched them lay some eggs. Thanks Paris for bringing them in to share with us.
